Terms of service

These terms apply to the use of domainfix.se. By using the service you accept them. The service is aimed at businesses, not consumers.

1. Who runs the service

The service is run by Suliman Othman, [email protected]. Get in touch by email with any questions about these terms.

2. What the service does

domainfix.se reads publicly available DNS data for a domain you enter and presents an assessment of it. We read SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, DNSSEC, MTA-STS, the expiry date of the domain registration and the certificate on the website.

The check requires no sign-in and no test email is sent. We change nothing in your DNS. The data in the check is public and can be retrieved by anyone.

Under Tools there is also a check of whether an IP address is on email blacklists, a reader for DMARC reports that you upload yourself, and a check of why email isn't reaching an address. The tools require a free account.

With an account you can add domains for monitoring. The account is described in section 7.

3. How the service may be used

The service is intended for checking individual domains, on request.

You may not run automated requests, scrape the service, work around the limits on how many checks can be run, or use the results to build registers or contact lists. The registry for .se domains does not permit its data to be used for marketing, and we follow that.

We may limit or withdraw access in case of misuse, without prior notice.

4. Limitation of liability

The service is provided as is. We aim for correct results but give no guarantee that they are complete or free of error.

We do not check everything. DKIM is checked by trying the selectors providers normally use, which means a domain with a custom selector may sign correctly even when we find nothing. We send no test message, so we cannot determine whether your mail actually reaches the inbox.

The blacklist check covers only the lists shown on the page, not every list that exists. Spamhaus, for example, is not checked. An address that is not listed with us may therefore still be on other lists.

You are responsible for changes you make in your own DNS. An incorrect SPF or DMARC record can stop your own mail from arriving. Read the warnings in our suggested fixes before changing anything, and make changes in steps.

We are not liable for indirect damage, lost profit or lost data resulting from use of the service.

The service gives general technical information, not advice tailored to your specific setup. Our assessments do not replace a review of your environment. If in doubt, check with your IT provider before changing anything.

Our total liability is in all cases limited to the amount you paid for the service during the three months preceding the event. If you have paid nothing, no compensation is due.

Claims must be raised in writing within three months of the point at which you discovered, or should have discovered, the grounds for the claim.

The limitations above do not apply in cases of intent or gross negligence on our part.

5. Availability

We give no guarantee that the service is available without interruption. Maintenance, updates and faults at our providers can make the service unavailable without notice.

Monitoring depends on external systems responding. We therefore cannot guarantee that every change is detected or that every alert arrives in time.

We may change or discontinue the free parts of the service at any time.

6. Paid services

Monitoring and fix help are paid services agreed separately. Prices are stated excluding VAT and are aimed at businesses.

Monitoring runs until further notice and is invoiced monthly. It is cancelled in writing with one month's notice, counted to the end of the following calendar month. If you cancel on 10 March, the service ends on 30 April.

For fix help you need to give us temporary access to your DNS. You keep ownership of the account, and the access is removed when the work is done. We use the access only for the work you have approved and never share it.

Before we change anything, we send exactly which records will be added, changed or removed. We start the work only once you have approved it in writing. Your approval means that you have taken note of what the change involves.

7. Your account

The account is for businesses. Whoever creates an account confirms that they may represent the business, and that the business details are correct.

You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for what is done through your account. If you suspect someone else has accessed it, change your password and contact us.

You can cancel the account at any time. It is deleted 30 days after cancellation, as described in the privacy policy.

We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these terms, or if the business details are not correct.

8. Changes to the terms

We may update the terms. The latest version is always on this page, with the date of the latest change.

We notify customers with an account of material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept the changes, you can cancel the account before then.

9. Governing law

Swedish law applies. Disputes are settled by the general courts, with Hudiksvall District Court as the first instance.
